'SMART'
Achievement Award

Managing Director Michael J. Thornalley (pictured above),
on receiving the award said :
" The award has allowed us to
produce components more economically, with a far greater degree of accuracy,
and has helped the company win new markets such as the cruise ship business."
Following the Piper Alpha disaster and
Kings Cross underground fire, there have been increasing calls for more
fire-safe environments. Fibrecast (UK) Ltd. has developed a special phenolic
moulding system which can produce safer interiors for rail cabins, trucks,
cars and cruise ships. The award-winning process is faster and easier
than the traditional, complex hand-lay process, with better safety for
the operator.

being tightened up across Europe. As a consequence, Fibrecast is involved

'Low Cost Control in Composite Workshops'. Fibrecast is one of a consortium
of companies involved in inventing a carbon hybrid filter system that
has an incineration cycle. Field trials began in 1998, with one of Fibrecast's
factories being used as the demonstration site for this new technology
for UK and European manufacturers.
